Early geneticist who won the Nobel prize in 1946 for his pioneering work in artificially induced mutations in Drosophilia. Muller worked at the Soviet Academy of Sciences from 1933-1937, served on Cold War advisory committees as an expert both on the Soviet Union and on effects of radiation on living organisms, and taught at several universities. He worked at Indiana University from 1945 until his death in 1967.
